“One by one,do not compare”- Dr TSB (Palliative physician)

Sometimes in this journey as a medical student of final year in UM,you thought you have worked hard compared to your peers, attend all classes sessions, take every chances to present in class….but the end of day…you FAIL the exam…

You start comparing yourself with your peers who did not participate in class, did not present or join class discussion, have poor basic science knowledge in medicine…yet they PASS!

you keep wondering why and why…day by day..what did you do wrong…

i would say we have to stop OVER thinking of that..its killing you slowly..the thought will become vicious cycle and you will end up depressed and anxious…easier said than done

you need to understand exam of final year MBBS exam(CLINICAL PART) for each student are assess independently..the patient and examiner you would have in the exam are different from each of your peers..and so level of difficulty would be different and hence it is the most unfair exam in the world.

So don’t be so sad as the exam is NOT really indicators of your capability. They are many factors contribute to your result of the exam eg patient, examiners, luck, your health condition,karma..so n so…

the list will go on and on….but this rule apply ONLY to those who failed their clinical part…if you have failed theory i would advice to study a bit more because the theory is a SCREENING exam of your medical knowledge as what one of Professor in ObGYN has told me.Failing clinical probably will be safer than failing theory..as i remember one of my peers who failed theory was not call for viva as it was not a redeemable pass.

Nevertheless,it is imperative that you who did not make it through the exam to find willing lecturers to guide you,to tell you which part you can improve,so that the chances of you to pass the exam will be greater in the next attempt.
